Roof door

A Gorter roof door, also called roof hatch, provides direct access to a flat roof. With a roof door, you not only have a practical means to access the roof, but you prevent the possible use of a façade ladder, which often causes hazardous situations. Moreover, placing ladders against the façade is not permitted for roofs over a certain height.

Maintenance and inspection of roofs

A roof door makes the maintenance and inspection of roofs easy. The roof door is resistant against all types of weather and when opened provides direct and safe access to the roof.

Working safely on roofs

There are various ways for safely accessing the roof. In our article ‘Working safely on roofs’, you can read more about this. The article also describes the regulations concerning safely working on roofs and offers practical links.

With a roof door (roof hatch), it is also easy to access a roof terrace. The roof hatch can be an opaque unit or fitted with safety glass. The latter option offers the necessary daylight in the underlying space and thereby creates a vibrant and open atmosphere. All glazed Gorter roof doors are fitted with electronic controls as standard. Your access to the roof terrace would not be complete without Gorter fixed stairs. The fixed stairs are manufactured entirely from anodised aluminium. The choice of material and design gives the stairs a very modern, contemporary look.

With the combination of a roof door with a push-up ladder or scissor stairs, you get a roof access installation that doesn’t always have to be in sight. Because the ladder, when not in use, can be stored away using the two included wall brackets. A roof door with scissor stairs and integrated lid, when not in use, offers a beautiful smooth-finish ceiling. For frequent use, electronically operated scissor stairs can be supplied. The advantage of both combinations is that, in a normal situation, you always have use of the full floor area in the underlying space.
