Colruyt supermarkets in Belgium and France
Gorter Belgium is supplying multiple ultra-insulating roof hatches to Colruyt supermarkets. The use of these roof hatches and the subsequent energy savings fit in well with the energy-neutral vision of the supermarkets. Colruyt stores are furnished simply, without decoration or frills, and no music is played. The heating and lighting are set by Colruyt to be as efficient as possible so as to reduce costs as much as they can. Milk products, fruit, vegetables and cold meats are grouped together in a large cool-room; the fresh market. Deep-frozen products are kept in closed freezers.
Roof hatch insulation
Gorter roof hatches are the only ones in the roof hatch category with a proven high insulating value. EuroSolid investigated the thermal performance according to EN ISO 10077-2 and states officially that Gorter RHT roof hatches have an insulating value of Uw ≤ 0,319 W/(m².K) This applies to both the curb and the cover.
The roof hatches feature a patented (Pat. no. 2519072) fully thermally insulated construction and double sealing around the cover. The special design makes sure that during severe winter conditions, or if used in very cold regions, no icing or condensation will form on the inside of the cover or curb.
Special sizes for Colruyt and ultra-insulation
Gorter created a special roof hatch version for Colruyt measuring 700 x 1500 mm with a half cylinder lock. In addition to a fully thermally broken structure, this means no heat transfer is possible via the lock. With this feature, the unit can really be termed an “ultra-insulating roof hatch”.
