Gorter has supplied a roof hatch, also called a roof door, for installation at the Blackrock Castle Observatory in Ireland. The roof door and ladder provide safe and practical access to the roof. This makes it easy to carry out maintenance on the instruments and equipment on the roof.
Burglary-resistant roof door
The burglar resistance of the roof door designed as an aluminium roof hatch has been tested by SKG and provides good protection. Roof hatches larger than 1,500 mm are fitted as standard with a three-point euro cylinder lock. Smaller roof hatched have a single-point euro cylinder lock. These provide extra protection in accordance with EN1303 and EN12209.
Sound insulation
Gorter RHT roof doors (roof hatches) are well insulated and, as standard, reduce noise by 26 dB. It is also possible to arrange for the curb to have extra noise-reducing material. This allows the noise to be reduced by 43 dB.
