Designed and constructed for safe access to lift engine and plant rooms, the extra wide Gorter Scissor Stair Attic Ladder type XL has been developed. Transform your unused roof space and enjoy the sunshine and views from your very own roof terrace. Whether used for entertaining guests, gazing at the stars or having a quiet drink, a roof terrace stands to be a great asset to your new or existing home.
The successful design of a roof terrace or garden is based on adequate planning and consideration. Firstly, a certified construction engineer must determine that the roof is structurally strong enough to carry the weight of a roof hatch and any other items. The roof must sometimes be clad to prevent damage to the water tight membrane or flashing often applied to the roof surface. If you are planning to plant vegetation on your roof terrace, you may be required to use extra drains to prevent pooling of water.
Mounting a roof hatch in combination with scissor stairs - attic ladders can cause safety and technical problems in the passage between ceiling and roof. Vertical mounted steps will be rejected as being unsafe.
Patented Extensions
Gorter supplies extensions for all Gorter types of scissor stairs - attic ladders with the exception of type Small. Gorter patented extensions are installed on top of the scissor stairs - attic ladders and offer an integral solution for roof access through a roof hatch. Gorter extensions are tested and safety approved according to European labour safety regulations. Gorter extensions will show no difference in use with Gorter scissor stairs - attic ladders.
In all buildings with possible or imminent explosion danger is a need for safe emergency ways in combination with explosion venting. Emergency ways to evacuate persons and explosion venting to bring the explosion force to the outside in order to safe the construction of the building against collapsing.
Saving the building construction against collapsing implies that explosion vents must open fully and as fast as possible. Openings must not be obstructed. To prevent damage to the building the explosion force must escape fast, straight and smooth to the outside. For that reason optimal operating explosion vents need a minimal opening resistance. Best should be zero resistance.
Inertia effects of heavy weight covers and /or strong forces to release the cover will increase the collapsing danger.
